Hinduism

 

Among all religions of the world, Hinduism is the most ancient.  ' Hindu'  has been derived from the word ' Sindhu ', a well known river in the north - west of India. 

The Vedas are the main religious books of the Hindus. The Hindu religion has developed from the teachings of Vedas. Among them the Upanishads, The Ramayana, The Bhagavad Gita and the Thrukkural are the most important ones.

Those who believe in Hinduism are called Hindus.

Hinduism has five main recognized principles, each of which begins with a letter ' P '. It is essential  for every Hindu to know them. They are:

Parameshwar - God

Prarthana  - Prayer

Punarjanma - Rebirth

Purushartha - Law of Action

Prani daya - Compassion for all living beings or non violence.
